How the network of the Swiss firm Nym guarantees more anonymity than a VPN

In its just published white paper, Nym Technologies SA defines the mixnet concept as a network of nodes that mix data packets. These nodes are “overlay routers that transform and reorder messages, so that their inputs cannot be correlated with their outputs”. One advantage of Nym’s network over a VPN is that it offers protection against traffic observation by the provider.
